Thinking about what to do for holiday gifts this year? Economic challenges can make buying gifts into another problem, not a solution. No problem! Make things (not as difficult or time-consuming as you’d imagine). Collect seeds from drying wild flowers in open fields and package/label them ornately for your garden-lovers. Make photos into ornaments, terracotta into bird baths, old cd’s into sun-catchers, pine-cone angels, mason-jar cookie mixes, and much more. Find more ideas online!

The Intracoastal Waterway serves as a means of linking boats from Florida to Maine and in between. Equally important, bridges across the waterway link golfers with courses, oceanfront resorts with shopping, and inland vacationers with the beach. If you drive across the swing bridge in Cherry Grove, you’re driving across the waterway. When you dine in Little River, you’re dining beside the waterway. It’s THAT important! Have you seen the waterway today?

If you are a consistent ball striker, consider replacing your irons with “forged” blades to sharpen your aim.

On this Veterans’ Day when we honored those serving in the armed forces, a fast moving storm blew through our area on Wednesday, leaving much needed moisture in farm and pastureland, golf courses, residential yards, and gardens. The excess on roadways and low-lying areas prompted the emergency notification centers to issue flood warning and watches to Horry County, but by mid-afternoon the heaviest of the downpour had passed.
