Historic Cherry Grove Pier

The historic and newly renovated Cherry Grove Pier was built early in the 1950s. Overlooking the Atlantic, it is 985 feet long and crowned with the only two-tier observation deck along the Grand Strand. It's a wonderful place to spend hours fishing, relaxing at the tiki bar, enjoying live entertainment and watching the renowned July Fourth fireworks. The historic Cherry Grove Pier welcomes over a quarter of a million visitors every year and is a local icon that is a true jewel of North Myrtle Beach.

Down the street from Avista Resort, The Cherry Grove Pier awaits you. It has newly furbished benches and other amenities, making this a great place to enjoy our coastal spring. Anglers, sightseers, even fitness enthusiasts use the pier in as many ways as there are planks on the boardwalk. Fish or just hang out there. Take the bird’s eye view of the coastline at the end point, the gazebo. Enjoy a picnic there and relax.

Located at the corner of Oak Drive and Ocean Drive, this charming 10-acre park features a two-acre lake, picnic tables, multiple grills, a walking trail, a softball/baseball field, two tennis courts, a roller hockey rink, and restroom facilities. Spend an hour or the whole day being active and having fun out in the fresh air!

Catch Whiting at The Cherry Grove Pier Wander out the 985 feet of boardwalk on The Cherry Grove Pier to your perfect spot among the 51 benches. Both fun to catch and good eating, whiting will bite on cut squid cast out from the pier on a two-hook rig, running left on the bottom. Because of their characteristics and relative ease to catch, pier-fishing for whiting is perfect to teach kids the fun of fishing. .
