Visitors and locals alike appreciate an occasional kid-free evening, and the North Myrtle Beach Aquatic and Fitness Center has a way to find that break. On April 16th 6-10 PM the Center has arranged a kid-fun evening for kids 5-12 years old. The plan includes swimming, pizza dinner, arts and crafts, and gym games – plenty of high-energy activities. Both members and non-members can participate. Call before April 15th to 843.281.3744 or online at www.afc.nmb.us.

If you take evening strolls outside during your April stay here, look especially toward the east for the Lyrids Meteors, a “shower” effect of stars. Though notoriously unpredictable, this year the peak is expected around April 22nd, especially right before dawn. If you miss that show, check the sky on May 5-7 for the Eta Aquarids Meteors. Fans say the best way to view is to get a chair, lie back, and wait.

Easter began early for the staff of 3500 Ocean Grill as they not only served breakfast from 6 AM to 10 AM, but then quickly shifted gears for the special Easter Brunch meal service starting at 11 AM. White table cloths, egg and floral decorations, exquisitely displayed food stations, delicious cuisine, and Easter smiles greeted the Brunch guests who, after all was said and done, numbered over 100. Dining at waterside on Easter!

Have Easter Brunch at 3500 Ocean Grill. Go to beaches this weekend. Get together with family to celebrate together. Enjoy the warmth of early spring. These are some joys of Easter. Another is attending sunrise services on Easter morning, hearing an Easter cantata, watching a re-enactment of the resurrection, hunting for Easter-eggs. This season is a joyous one, so may we wish you a very happy Easter!

Sometimes you just have to have it – good old-fashioned barbeque cooked the way it was cooked back in the days when time was abundant and people wanted quality in their food. Scott’s Bar-B-Que in Hemingway has it (the store and pit are located off S.C. 261 at Brunson Cross Roads in Williamsburg County), but it’s not ready before 9:30 AM, despite some customers’ lining up at 5 AM for it.
