Golfers, ever wonder how the name “birdie” or “eagle” originated? You know that an “eagle” is two strokes under par on a golf course, usually occurring when golfers hit the ball far enough to reach the green, usually on par fives or the rare hole-in-one on a par-three. The name came about, so says legend, because a simple “birdie” needed to be a larger bird for the two stroke-advantage. Hence, “eagle.”

Expect a pleasant surprise at the pump, according to news sources. Gasoline prices have gone south, dropping the national average to $2.75, give or take, at least as of the last weekend in May. A month ago, we paid about 12 cents more. A week ago 8 cents more. Now, here we are in early June, after the Memorial Day weekend. That is traditionally the unofficial start of summer, and the time is so right!

Any chance that you’ve given some thought to how to celebrate the father in your life? The guy who helped pay bills, put a roof over your head, guide you through troubled waters, and praised your accomplishments? How about giving him a weekend at the beach where he can fish off the Pier, hang out at the Boardwalk Beach Café, and generally have a good time!

In honor of the 173rd Airborne Brigade and all U. S. veterans, Waterdog Promotions and the City of North Myrtle Beach delivered a fabulous show on June 3rd. Starting at 5:00 PM in the Horseshoe, the United States Army Golden Knights parachuted onto the beach. Shortly afterward, the 82nd Airborne Division Chorus delivered a rousing performance. At 8:00 pm the national recording stars, Cimarron, took over for one spectacular night to remember!
