Local Angler Makes Fishing News

Myrtle Beach angler Lori Murphy set the state's first Marine Gamefish State Record for her catch of an Atlantic Sharpnose Shark this week. She and her husband Sean motored 55 miles offshore in a 21-foot boat to fish near the Winyah Scarp. Lori hooked the shark in a few short minutes and contacted the SC Department of Natural Resources to verify her catch.

Bring the family to North Myrtle Beach for a great FREE event! On May 9th on Main Street's "horse shoe," enjoy live beach music to your heart's content! Additional fun comes from seeing the various booths of crafts, food, and even a children's play area. All you need is a lawn chair or beach blanket. Old-Time Family Amusement Park in NMB

Ferris wheel, carousel, and maybe even a small roller coaster - all possible in the proposed fun park on property between Main Street and First Avenue South. Projections are for a test run in August. Ultimately, with no cost except per ride, the park could be a huge draw, especially if NMB's trolley system goes into place this summer, as well. Stay tuned to this news source to see what happens next.
